Program Description: Prince William Sound Community college offers an Undergraduate Certificate and Associate of Applied Science Degree in Industrial Technology with a concentration in Electrical Generation. Curriculum is crafted to provide the skills necessary to service and maintain electrical generation systems under the supervision of the sponsoring electric utility.
These programs are designed to provide individuals with job specific knowledge and skills, and the credentials to back up that knowledge. Coursework incorporates the topics of power plant principles, power unit maintenance, industrial hygiene, properties of hazardous materials, safety law and standards, process safety, environmental technology, communications, and math.
Students admitted into the program are able to advance on a career pathway leading from a undergraduate certificate to an associate degree and on to a bachelors of science degree in technology. Coursework is available for students interested in adding a business emphasis to their education plans.
Length of Program: Undergraduate certificates can be completed in one to two years and the Associate of Applied Science Degree takes two to three years to complete based on the course load taken by the student.
2007-2009 Tuition and Fees: Undergraduate tuition is $116 per credit hour. Tuition costs for a 39 credit undergraduate certificate are $4,524 and 62 credit associate of applied science degree are $7,192. There is no out of state tuition at Prince William Sound Community College. The College has a payment plan available for students. Further information on fees can be found at the PWSCC website.
